Drive times: rough real-time planning ranges, not timed runs or GPS estimates. Allow extra for loading, parking, photo stops and breaks. Length tags use the midpoint of each range. Scenic detours, traffic, ferries and depot choice can change the time.
Research notes & sources
This is a curated driving list, not a claim that every road has an official “best route” award. The strongest community-documented recommendations—Bergen–Stavanger, Oslo–Bergen, Sarajevo–Podgorica and Turin–Zürich via the Alpine passes—anchor the list. Other entries pair roads and landmarks documented by SCS with sensible A/B cities on the in-game map.
- SCS forum: The most beautiful roads in ETS2 — community route thread, including Turin–Zürich and West Balkans suggestions.
- r/ETS2: most beautiful roads and viewpoints — recommends Oslo–Bergen.
- TruckersMP: favourite road discussion — specifically calls out Stavanger–Bergen.
- SCS forum: community scenic-road picks — specifically recommends the A483 run from Swansea towards Liverpool.
- Truck Simulator Wiki: E18 — confirms the cross-Pennine Carlisle–Newcastle road is present in the ETS2 base map.
- Maps — rendered from the installed ETS2 game files using ts-map. Pale roads show the game’s road network; lime highlights show suggested routes. Some junction connections are approximate. Area maps show regional context without claiming an exact sight or depot location. Dashed highlights indicate train or ferry crossings. Map data © SCS Software.
- r/trucksim country discussion — recent player consensus around Norway, Greece, Spain and the Balkans.
- SCS: Nordic Horizons release and SCS April 2026 news — confirms released/current versus announced expansions.
- Official ETS2 Steam page — current DLC catalogue; Iceland, Isle of Ireland and Soul of Anatolia are still unreleased and therefore excluded.
Accuracy and version caveats
Map rebuilds can move junctions, depots and scenery. City pairs are designed for the unmodded official map with all released map expansions through Nordic Horizons. A few small countries have only one major in-game city, so their route deliberately crosses a border. Depot company names vary with game version and localisation; use the nearest named city and the industry icon/job market description. The UK, Czechia, Hungary and parts of Poland remain older-detail areas in the current map, so those picks are “best available” rather than modern-DLC showcases.
